Photographers photograph life.

We see the world through their own eyes – for a period of time of their life or during their entire lifetime.

They share with us their vision of life.

They show us how they see the world.

They are witnesses of time.

They share their visual testimonies with us.

Last April, I visited an exhibition on Sebastiao Salgado at the Hôtel de Ville of Paris.

This free exhibition was monumental because it showed almost all the work of Salgado throughout his career and life.

The display was outstanding, from the photos outside the Hôtel de Ville to the numerous photos inside the exhibition with various formats, and the music as well as the decor that represented the forest, in reference to Salgado and his wife’s environmental initiatives. This exhibition also showed Salgado’s son paintings.

With this exhibition, the public could (re)discover Salgado’s commitment to photograph nature, animals and people all around the world.

I wrote several articles on Sebastiao Salgado in my blog because his photos are to me exceptional, beautiful and unique. They all tell their own stories and make you reflect on their subjects. Their compositions and their shades of black and white are strong and deep. These photos show exclusive snapshots of history all around the world.
